【摘要】:Thesetestmethodsprovideameasureofashippingcontainer’abilitytoprotectaproductfromfailureduetohorizontalimpacts.Thesemeasuresarebasedoncontrolledlevelsofshockinputandmaybeusedforarrivingattheoptimumdesignofacontainerorsystemtoprotectaproductagainstaspecifiedlevelofshippingenvironmenthazard.Thesetestmethodsprovideameasureofapackagedproduct’abilitytowithstandthevariouslevelsofshippingenvironmenthazards.Thesemeasuresmaybeusedtoprescribeamodeofshippingandhandlingthatwillnotinducedamagetothepackagedproductortodefinetherequiredlevelsofprotectionthatmustbeprovidedbyitspackaging.TestMethodAisintendedtosimulatetherailcarcouplingenvironment.RefertoMethodsD5277forsimulatingthestandarddraftgearportionofthatenvironment.1.1Thesetestmethodsareintendedtodeterminetheabilityofapackageorproducttowithstandlaboratorysimulatedhorizontalimpactforces.1.2Thehorizontalimpactsusedinthesetestmethodsareprogrammedshockinputsthatrepresentthehazardsastheyoccurintheshippingandhandlingenvironments.Theenvironmentalhazardsmayincluderailswitchingimpacts,palletmarshallingimpacts,andsoforth.Thefollowingtestmethodsapply:1.2.1MethodA,RailCarSwitchingImpact-Thistestmethodsimulatesthetypesofshockpulsesexperiencedbyladinginrailcarswitching,withtheuseofarigidbulkheadontheleadingedgeofthetestcarriage,tosimulatetheendwallofarailcarandshockprogrammingdevicestoproducerepresentativeshockpulses.Withtheuseofbackloading,thistestmethodmayalsobeusedtosimulatecompressiveforcesexperiencedbyladingloadsduringrailcarswitching.Itissuitablefortestsofindividualcontainersorsystemsastheyareshippedinrailcars.Itmayalsobeusedtoevaluatetheeffectivenessofpalletpatternstodeterminetheeffectofinteractionbetweencontainersduringrailswitchingoperationimpacts.1.2.2MethodB,PalletMarshallingImpactTests-Thistestmethodassesstheabilityofsinglecontainers,systems,andunitloadquantitiestowithstandtheforcesencounteredduringpalletmarshallingorairplaneloadingoperations.1.3Thetestlevelsmaybevariedtorepresentthemodeonshippingandhandlingusedfortheitemundertest.1.4Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.TheSIunitsgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyproblems,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.SpecificprecautionarystatementsaregiveninSection6.
