【摘要】:Ingeneral,withmaterialsofthistype,softeningdoesnottakeplaceatadefinitetemperature.Asthetemperaturerises,thesematerialsgraduallyandimperceptiblychangefrombrittlesolidstosoft,viscousliquids.Forthisreason,thedeterminationofthesofteningpointmustbemadebyafixed,arbitrary,andcloselydefinedmethodsiftheresultsaretobecomparable.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofthesofteningpointofcertainalkali-solubleresinshavinguniformplasticflowcharacteristicsasthemeltingpointisapproached.1.2Theresinmanufacturershouldspecifywhetherornotthistestmethodmaybeusedforhisproduct(s).1.3Thistestmethodisnotsuitableforstyrene-maleicanhydrideresins.Note18212;Fortestingrosinandotherresins,seeTestMethod.Fortestingasphalts,tars,andpitches,seeTestMethod.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
